Welcome To Umtata High School. The school is situated in the central business district of Mthatha in the Eastern Cape. A very important structure in the city, the schoolis bordered by the Transkei Primary School on one side and the famous Nelson Mandela Museum on the other side. Across the N2 road which is the other boundary of the school is the Viljoen Hostel for UHS students. The Colours of the school are white, black, gold, and dark green. The school uniform and all the school regalia is made from these colours.

Umtata High Sporting activities provide a platform for our learners to showcase their gifted talents besides that it provides health benefit. Sport assist our leaners to gain Self-Confidence, Discipline and great Leadership skills. As UHS family, we aim to create Unity amongst our Learners through Sport

Umtata High Commerce Department has always been seized with social ills in our community. The challenges facing the youth and contracting economic growth has resulted in many struggling to make the ends meet. This has caused the spiral in unemployment and criminal activities which are the major social ills facing our society.

Umtata High School believes that times have changed, especially when it comes to digital space. The fourth industrial revolution is taking over.Sooner or later everything will be robotic or electronic where a human being will be talking to a robot etc. In our school, we always strive to advance ourselves in terms of getting new and current digital Apps to help our learners and teachers in their strategic and innovative teaching and learning methods.
